Make Dictionary Attacks More Effective
According to various researches, some 70 per cent of consumers reuse
their passwords. In as many as 70 per cent of cases, a password
protecting a hard-to-crack Office 2013 document, BitLocker volume or
RAR5 archive would be a simple variation of one of the user’s other
passwords. Using the filtered wordlist produced by Elcomsoft Internet
Password Breaker in Elcomsoft Distributed Password Recovery with simple
mutations (such as appending up to 4 digits to the end of each password)
can solve up to 70 per cent of cases in a matter of minutes. Adding a
more complex mutation will increase the time spent on attacks, but may
deliver even better results.
All Features and Benefits
We built Elcomsoft Internet Password
Breaker with digital forensics in mind. The tool offers a fully
automatic, one-click solution for making a filtered dictionary
containing each and every password extracted from the user’s computer.
Using a high-quality dictionary containing the user’s existing passwords
can tremendously increase effectiveness of brute-force attacks
performed by other ElcomSoft tools such as Elcomsoft Distributed
Password Recovery or Elcomsoft Advanced Office Password Recovery.
Elcomsoft Internet Password Breaker works
instantly and automatically. The tool automatically detects
applications, locates all available user identities and accounts, and
extracts all cached information such as AutoComplete forms, pre-filled
forms, logins and passwords protecting mailboxes, identities and user
accounts.
While the tool comes with extensive
exporting functionality, it offers a fully featured interactive mode as
well. In this mode, experts can review information about the user’s
applications, identities, accounts and passwords via convenient
graphical interface.
Microsoft Edge Chromium is the second most
popular desktop Web browser based on usage. With Microsoft bringing the
new Chromium-based Edge browser to every Windows computer, Microsoft
Edge can become Chrome’s major competitor.
Unlike Internet Explorer and Edge Legacy, which employ Microsoft
DPAPI to encrypt passwords, Edge Chromium uses industry-standard AES-256
encryption to protect passwords. Internet Password Breaker fully
supports the extraction of passwords stored in Microsoft Edge Chromium
and several other Chromium-based browsers. In addition, the tool also
supports Edge Legacy and Internet Explorer passwords.
Elcomsoft Internet Password Breaker
instantly displays the original plain-text passwords protecting
mailboxes, POP3, IMAP, SMTP and NNTP news accounts and user identities
in a variety of Microsoft email clients. All versions of Microsoft
Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail are
supported, including Microsoft Passport passwords in Windows Live Mail.
For all versions of Microsoft Outlook up to Office 2010, Elcomsoft
Internet Password Breaker retrieves passwords protecting PST files.
